Strawflowers really attract butterflies. Tall, pompom-like flowers that are profuse bloomers, well-branched plants produce double flowers 2-2 1/2" across. Easy to grow, tolerate both heat and drought, are known as the "everlasting" bloom as their flowers will last forever when dried. Also known as strawflower and bracted strawflower. Tips on How to Grow Strawflower –Helichrysum SeedsSOW INDOORS 6-8 weeks before last frost. 10-20 days to germinate at 70-75º.Do not cover seeds, as light aids in germination. Direct Seed: Sow after last frost, only where summers are very long. |
| Will do best in full sun with a well-drained soil mix. In the greenhouse, we use a soil mix consisting of 1 part peat moss to 2 parts loam and sand. Plants are well watered and allowed to dry before watering again. |
