Statice Seeds
Limonium sinuatum
Statice Flowers come in white, lavender, and pink colors. The tiny funnel-shaped Statice flowers have a delicate, airy, hazy appearance, almost like smoke. Statice flowers are poularly used in dried flower arrangements, indeed Statice are one of the most widely used dried flowers. Statice Seeds can be initiated indoors 6-8 weeks before planting or sown directly outdoors. Division may be done in early to late spring or root cuttings can be taken in mid-winter and grown indoors or in a coldframe until spring. Grown for both its colorful flowers and its everlasting calyx (the green leaf that encloses the flower bud), statice is also considered an herb, referred to as "sea lavender." Old-fashioned annual statice is found more often dried in crafts stores than growing in gardens. But this easy-to-grow plant is a great pick for containers or the middle of a border, especially if you want to harvest it for everlasting bouquets indoors. Statice is an annual with a height from 1-3 feet. Drought tolerant that attracts birds. Great for Cut Flowers as containers.
