85 Days to Maturity. The No. 1 mid-late red cabbage. The heads are medium-sized and dense with a uniform high-round shape and good wrapper leaves. Good field-holding ability. Matures just in time for late summer crops or fall harvest for medium-term storage. Ruby Perfection’ is an F-1 hybrid red cabbage. It produces 3-4 pound heads of red cabbage in 80 days. Plants will grow to 1-2’ tall and as wide. The color of red cabbage makes it an attractive addition to cooked foods, slaws and salads.Plant height 1-2 feet, spread 1.50-3 feet. Zone 2-11.

Avoid following cabbage family plants.
Good Companions: Bush beans, beet, carrot, celery, cucumber, dill, kale, lettuce, mint, nasturtium, onion family, potato, rosemary, sage, spinach, thyme and tomato.
Bad Companions: Pole beans, strawberry.
Plant fall cabbage 6 to 8 weeks before the first frost.
Growing plants that have been exposed to cool weather become "hardened" and are tolerant of frost.
Cabbage that matures in cool weather is deliciously sweet.

Like most vegetables, cabbage needs at least 6 hours of full sun each day; more is better. It also needs fertile, well-drained, moist soil with plenty of rich organic matter. The soil pH should be between 6.5 and 6.8 for optimum growth and to discourage club root disease.
