This mix contains all the yellow, golden, orange, and deep red shades for which Janie is famous, including bicolors. An early French type with uniform growth. Crested blooms are never hidden by foliage. Height of 8-10" with a 6-8" spread. Great for garden and pots. Both the plant and the blooms keep their neat shape despite the hot weather. Janie is a great choice for the from of a border, edging and containers of all sizes. Effective as a nematode-repellent in the vegeable garden and butterflies truly like this plant. Optimum conditions for seedling development that begins the day the crop is sown until cotyledon expansion. -
Expect radicle emergence 3 – 20 days. -
SOW INDOORS 8-10 weeks before last frost. 15-20 days to germinate. -
Cover Seeds may be covered with a thin layer of medium vermiculite to maintain moisture levels. Keep at 72-75°F. |
- Light is not necessary for germination. If utilizing a chamber, providing a light source of 10 – 100 foot candles will improve germination Dramatically compared to seed germinated in the dark
- TRANSPLANT into your outdoor garden after danger of frost. Space outside 8-18" apart. Spacing is variety specific and all information is on our packs.
- Moisture: Saturated for days 1 – 3 or until radicle emergence. On days 4 – 7 reduce moisture to moist . Once actively growing, begin alternating between moisture levels wet and medium . Allow media to approach dry before re-saturating to level .
Humidity: 40 – 70% - Dehumidify: Provide horizontal airflow to aid in drying down the media through evapotranspiration, allowing better penetration of oxygen to the roots.
