| Calendula is commonly called Pot Marigold, this plant blooms best in cool weather, producing flowers in a blend of lemon yellow, apricot, gold and orange. This variety has a Zinnia type double 3" flowers .Calendulas bloom over an extremely long period, thriving in cool weather and persisting through autumn’s first frosts. Can be direct seeded in May or started indoors in cool place for early blooms. Readily self-sows. Don’t crowd, give them full sun. Deadhead to keep blooms coming and the patch attractive, or try succession plantings Sow indoors: 5-8 weeks before last frost in individual pots and keep moist. Transplant outdoors after all danger of frost is past, or sow directly outside 2 weeks after last frost in groups of 3-4 seeds. then thin to 12-18". Germination period is 10-14 days at 70ºF. GARDEN HINTS: Full sun, average well drained soil. Great for pots, beds, and large containers. Full sun is best , and make sure soil is not saturated. Remove spent flowers to prolong the blooming period. Make an excellent long lasting cut flower.
