Often compared to Fennel, Licorice and Tarragon. Anise has its own unique flavor that has been enjoyed for thousands of years around the Mediterranean and North America. Anise is commonly used as a flavor in sweets. Such a gentle anise flavor that tastes like a rootbeer candy. Seeds should be sown about 1/4" deep, and should germinate in between 10-14 days at approximately 70 degrees F. Transplant outdoors when plant is approximately 4-5" tall and shows it first set of true leaves.Round, bright green leaves with toothed margins. Try adding anise micros to dessert dishes such as cupcakes or ice cream for a casual hint of licorice.
HARVEST:Once cotyledons have fully developed or once the first true leaves begin to emerge, depending upon your market. Typically micros range from 1/2-2" in height. For most items this will be 2-4 weeks after sowing, depending on the variety, growing conditions, and final product size desired. Cut with scissors or a sharp knife and minimize handling to reduce damage. Micro greens must be washed before serving. Shelf life ranges from 5-10 days under proper storage. condition
