How To Grow Joey Ptilotus From Seeds

Germination:

  • 5-7 days at 70-72 �F

Plug Culture:

  • Stage 1 requires light for germination.
  • Cover seed lightly with vermiculite after sowing.
  • Stage II moderate soil moisture levels.
  • Stage III: Gradually lower temperatures to 66-68 �F and lower soil moisture levels.
  • Stage IV: Temperatures can be reduced to 66 �C. Transplant plugs as scheduled and do not let plugs get root bound.

Growing On:

  • 6-8 weeks after sowing transplant.

Media:

  • Use a well-drained media, pH 5.5-6.5

Light:

  • Day neutral, but a light summation flowering response.
  • Higher light levels promote shorter, better-branched plants with larger flowers.

Temperature:

  • Grow at 70-74 �F.
  • Avoid temperatures below 60 �F

Fertilization:

  • Moderate to high fertilization levels are required.
  • Fertilize the crop weekly with 100-150 ppm nitrogen, using a complete and balanced fertilizer.
  • Avoid high ammonium and high nitrogen levels.
