SOW INDOORS:- Not recommended- as seedlings are difficult to transplant.
GARDEN HINTS: - Use for mass plantings. Tolerates poor sandy soil with low fertility, heat and drought conditions. Poppies like full sun and are commonly used as a wild-flower.
California poppies are hardy cool weather plants and should be sown in early spring or fall in southern areas. The seed must be sown where it is to bloom and later thinned to give each plant about a square foot of space. They like well-drained, even sandy soil and bloom for a long time. Shearing after they set seed will allow them to re-bloom quickly and abundantly.
