How to Grow Angelonia-Orchid Flower From Seeds
Angelonia is a perennial in zones 9-11. Elsewhere it is grown as an annual or in a container to be brought indoors in cold weather.Light:
Full sun.Moisture:
Angelonia should have regular watering for best performance, but established plantings are moderately drought tolerant. Allow the soil to dry out between watering.Sow seed indoors:
at 72-76� F (21-24� C), 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost.Plant seedlings out around the time of your last frost. Try to keep seeds in freezer for two days before planting to encourage the germination process. Staking is preferred, this tall plant do best in full sun and fairly good soil, but can take partial shade.
Use a well �drained disease free, soil less medium with a pH of 5.5 to 60.>br>
Do not cover or bury the seeds.
Germination takes 4 to 5 days with a temperature of 72 to 76�F.
Light is required for the seed to germination.
The following temperatures are required for best results:
- Germination: 72 to 76�F
- Cotyledon stage: 68 to 72�F
- True Leaf stage: 65 to 70�F Maintain 95% relative humidity until the cotyledons emerge. Keep soil moist but do not saturate the seedlings, do not allow wilting, as they will not recover well.
Growing on Stage: Maintain Temperatures as follows:
- Nights: 64 to 66�F
- Days: 66 to 75�F Daily average temperatures below 64�F will slow down the growth rate dramatically. Keep light as high as possible while maintaining the recommended temperatures.
