Tips on How to Grow Bell Flower
ZONES 3-8
Bell Flowers contain many different flower forms and plant heights.
SOW INDOORS OR DIRECT SOW
Sow indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost. Do not cover seed.Place seed starting mix into your cells, water each cell until the soil is saturated. Sprinkle 3-4 seeds on top of each cell, then press LIGHTLY into soil but do not cover- as they seeds are very small. Place the cells in a sunny location 65-70 degrees and the keep the seeds moist be SPRITZING them with water once the soil starts to appear to be dry. Germination time varies with your conditions however the usual period is 14-21 days at 70F. By the end of the third week you should start to see sprouts.
Transplant outdoors after any danger of frost is past, or sow directly outside after last frost, in groups of 3-4 seeds, thin to 12-18".Some varieties will not bloom the first year of growth.
GARDEN HINTS: Bell Flowers respond well to rich, moist soil. Use for rock gardens,
borders, edging in flower beds. Fairly easy to grow from seed. Full sun in cooler climates or partial shade for all other conditions.
