Tips on How to Grow Butterfly Flower From Seeds
A must for the butterfly garden! This plant is late to break dormancy, so be patient in the spring. When to plant outside: Spring, after all danger of frost has passed and up to 8 weeks before the first fall frost. When to start inside: 6-8 weeks before average last spring frost. GARDEN HINTS: Will tolerate some drought and little salt and will also grow in dry to moist soils. Prefers well-drained soils with a pH of acidic to slightly alkaline. Full Sun, Light Shade.Raising them from seeds is the most certain method of propagation. Sow only a few seeds in a pot of rather firm soil, and allow the young plants, which grow slowly, to remain in these pots for at least a year before setting them out.The 24� tall plants produce a profusion of vivid red-orange flowers that attract majestic Monarchs and other colorful butterflies. It is also a host plant, providing a place for them to lay their eggs and food for hungry caterpillars, allowing you to observe the full life cycle of the butterfly.Germination: Cover seed lightly; 70-75�F; 14 - 21 days
