aaslogo.jpgNo stranger to rough conditions, Imagination blooms unchecked through sun, heat, and drought that stops most other blooms in their tracks.  Excellent wildlife plant,  the bees go crazy for it. A beautiful way to prevent soil erosion, color a sunny strip of ground, or adorn a container of any kind. Imagination is renowned for dense, fast, drought- and heat-tolerant coverage, and this award-winning variety is even more colorful and long-blooming than most. Perennial in zones 7-10, Imagination is fast-growing annual farther north, offering months of colorful coverage for all your challenging garden spots. Few plants can equal its flower power. Dense plants are great as groundcovers on slopes and banks, as well as trailers in window boxes and hanging baskets  Butterflies love the nectar & finches eat the seeds. Plant Height - 12-20 Inches, plant width 12-24 inches. Tips on How to Grow Verbena from Seeds

Germination

  • Start Verbena  - sow seeds about 8-12 weeks before the last frost date.

  • Cover seed lightly with growing medium. 2-3 seeds per individual peat or fiber pots.
  • Seed is slow to germinate (10-30 days)  and sensitive to excess moisture, so keep growing medium on the dry side until emergence.
  • Place seed trays on a heating mat during the day and remove at night to ensure the proper germination temperature. Alternating temperatures between 60°F at night and 86°F during the day helps to break dormancy.
  • Transplant to cell packs or larger containers after true leaves appear. Harden off and transplant outside after the last frost.
  • Direct seed only in areas with long growing seasons. Sow seeds after the last frost, barely covering seeds.
  • Verbena needs 8-10 hours of direct sunlight every day and a well-drained soil. Plants that are kept too moist and don’t get enough sun are susceptible to powdery mildew and other diseases. Plant verbena in the sunniest location in your garden to prevent this problem.
