Looking like pinwheels, 'Titan Lavender Blue Halo’ has large bicolored rosy lavender and white blooms, a neat mounding habit that will flower profusely.  Titan Vincas grow up to 2 weeks faster to flower with superior branching and the biggest flowers in all the top-selling vinca colors. A vigorous grower even in cooler climates and a good low-water variety in hot, dry conditions.Large flowers and lush foliage, ideal for large containers and flower beds. Fertilize every 2 weeks with 20-20-20  Vinca, or Madagascar periwinkle, is a tropical evergreen shrub that is grown as a tender bedding plant in temperate climates. It is a highly heat and drought tolerant ornamental that blooms continuously and bears showy, radial, five-petaled pink-lavender blooms with a hint of lavender-blue throughout the growing season. Its glossy dark green foliage is dense and lush.Titan combines faster and earlier flowering - grow the "best of the best".  Perfect for the landscape and containers. Excellent performace in high light and temperatures. Do not overwater. Vinca grows best in sites with full to partial sun and poor to average, well-drained soil. Plant this tough ornamental in sunny beds and borders or containers, as well as seaside. Madagascar periwinkle dislikes "wet feet" and will suffer from root rot in poorly drained soils. It is known to reseed itself and in warm regions with light soils can become invasive. Height: 14 to 16"; 10 to 12" spread.

Tips on How to Grow Vinca from Seeds

Germination

  • Start Vinca  - sow seeds about 10-12 weeks before the last frost date scheduled in your area.

  • Cover seed lightly with growing medium. 2-3 seeds per individual peat or fiber pots. Vinca needs darkness to germinate
  • Seed is slow to germinate (10-21 days)  and sensitive to light, best to place seed in cells and press lightly to cover, then place tray inside of black plastic bag, keep at 75-80°F.
  • After seeds germinate place the tray in full bright sunlight until the 3-4 true leaves have developed.
  • Transplant to cell packs or larger containers after true leaves appear. Harden off and transplant outside after the last frost.
  • Vinca  needs 8-10 hours of direct sunlight every day. In southwest desert climates and the hottest regions of the deep south, afternoon shade is preferred. Vinca plants grow best in well-drained soil with average to low fertility. Vinca can tolerate drought, and high heat. In hot, humid climates 'Cora,' 'Solar,' and 'Viper,' vincas perform best.
  • Vinca flowers attract many butterflies. Can be deer and rabbit resistant in most areas.
