aaslogo.jpgAAS Winner. Rocket Rose Shade is a delightful brilliant deep rose blossom with a golden eye. Rocket Snapdragons are big, densely packed plumes on a vigorous 30 to 36" tall plant with a 16 to 18" spread.  The more you cut the more you get. Vigorous, heat-tolerant plants reach a uniform height and are topped by excellent-quality, closely set blooms in a comprehensive array of colors. Flowers have a spicy scent that you will enjoy in the garden or vase. Flowers well under long days. Versatile snaps are useful as both a landscape series and as field-grown cut flowers. Planting early, the home gardener can get two crops of stems. This tall variety is best in the back of the border, the bed, or the cutting garden. It combines well with other spring and fall annuals, adding plenty of vertical color. The blooms open from the bottom up on these long spikes, so the lower blooms are in full flower when the tip of the spike is still tighlty budded. A beloved favorite of gardeners across the country for its spectacular color and robust garden performance, Rocket is the Snap you want for dramatic blooms and plenty of them. Snaps are cool-season annuals that bloom in spring and fall in warm areas, summer in colder climates. In very warm locations they may winter over if mulched. They do best in full sun to light shade. Hummingbirds, Bees and just about all hummers find their way to these snapdragons,

Tips on How to Grow Snapdragons from Seeds

Germination

  • Optimum conditions for seedling development that begins the day the crop is sown until cotyledon expansion.

  • Germination is in  10 – 21 days.

  • SOW INDOORS 8-10 weeks before last frost. 10-21 days to germinate. Direct Sow is not recommended.

  • Do Not Cover Seeds, just press lightly into very moist soil and maintain moisture levels. If you are watering indoors do so from below, (sub-irrigate.) Keep at 68-75°F.

  • Grow on at 60°; warmer temperatures cause leggy transplants. Set out after danger of frost, spacing at 9–12". Perennial in Zone 7-10, grown as an annual.
  • Light is necessary for germination.
  • TRANSPLANT into your outdoor garden after danger of frost. For Dwarf varieties 6-8 inches apart, tall varieties 12-18 inches apart.
  • Moisture: Very moist for days 1 – 3 or until radicle emergence. On days 4 – 7 reduce moisture to moist . Once actively growing, begin alternating between moisture levels wet and medium . Allow media to approach dry before re-saturating to level.
  • Light: Full sun.
