How To Start and Plant Your Seeds
Seeds Starting Basics:
Depending on where you live and what you would like to grow for this season, some of you will need to start your seedlings indoors until the climate is ready for your transplants. Eggplant, Peppers and Tomatoes are the most popular Vegetables to start indoors early, as these particular crops can tolerate the transplant process as they are sensitive to the cold and must be kept indoors until all chances of frost have passed. While selecting your Vegetable Garden try to keep in mind what ever you are choosing try to tailor your growing habits and techniques to mimic the natural habitat that a particular seed is use to being grown in. This is not as hard as it sounds- actually one does do that exact thing when they start their seeds indoors. you are giving the seedlings a warm and moist environment to start off in.
Timing is a crucial area of concern, as plants can be divided into 2 categories- Frost Sensitive and Cold Hardy. Cold Hardy seeds can be started when the soil can be worked outdoors in the Spring for Beets, Spinach, and Lettuce. Frost Sensitive plants can be further divided into two additional categories: Ones that can be started indoors as they CAN be transplanted and those that CANNOT be transplanted. Those that can not must be set out directly into the ground as soon as any chance of frost has passed,
