Product Description
Aquilegia x caerulea | 100 Seeds
AAS Winner. These are the garden columbines. Like the Russell Lupines and other definitive groups of perennials, the McKana Columbines have never been surpassed. With clear, bright-colored flowers, these are sizable plants, growing up to 32" or more. Their show in the garden can be truly spectacular. These famous flowers were bred by combining both the North American native columbines with others from abroad. The McKanas include the famous all-red Crimson Star, a major hummingbird plant, and some of the unique fully-double hybrids.. Flowers are attractive to hummingbirds. Removing spent flowers will increase the blooming time. Columbines are relatively short lived, allow some of the plants to go to seed and self sow. Leaf miners or sawfly may disfigure the leaves around flowering time. Simply trim off the ugly foliage and the plants will grow fresh leaves.Columbine love full sun to partial shade, normal soil or sandy is best. Height 14-18 inches, spread 12-18 inches. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.USDA Zone 3-9.
