Sunflower Sam Seeds
For Kids Who Garden,
Hello down there! I'm Sunflower Sam, the biggest and mightiest sunflower in the world.
Does your yard or school playground have a sunny, bare patch of earth? That's all you need
to make sunflowers happy, and if you plant us, we'll give you hundreds of delicious sunflower
seeds to eat this year.
You'll get 75 seeds in each packet. Sow seeds in the sunniest place you can find after the frosty
weather has passed. Sunflowers won't grow when the ground is still frozen. Be sure to give us
water after you plant us, and then keep watching for green sprouts to peek up out of the earth.
Did I mention that I am a huge, powerful plant? Sunflower Sam sunflowers grow up to 12 feet tall
in height. We make a forest of big, golden flowers and our tasty seeds form in the center of
our petals.
You can harvest our seeds and roast them for a fantasic snack. Or, you can plant sunflowers to
invite birds to your garden. Birds love sunflower seeds as much as gardening kids do. Just be sure to
pick a place where we can stretch and grow tall, tall, tall!
Your Friend,
Sunflower Sam
