How To Grow Salvia From Seeds

Salvia will generally blooms from July through October.
A native from Texas and New Mexico does well in hot and humid climates.
  • Salvia prefers well-drained soil that is slightly dry.
  • Do not use fertilizer ľas too much fertilizer will promote a lot of foliage and no blooms!
  • Planted best in groups or in borders.
  • Deadhead spent flowers frequently to prolong blooming .
  • OUTDOORS:

  • In USDA zones 1-8, start indoors for growing as an annual.
  • In USDA zones 8-10, sow seed directly outside in the place where you want it to grow as a perennial.
  • INSIDE:

  • Recommended in all but USDA zones 8-10.
  • Sow 10-12 weeks before average last frost.
  • SPECIAL GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Seed requires light to germinate.
  • Press lightly into very moist soil only on the surface and keep moist, when watering indoors water from below, and if outdoors use a very fine spray as to not bury the fine seeds.
