Organic Tomato Seeds, Cherokee Purple
Lycopersicon esculentum
A Tennessee heirloom tomato rumored to be from Cherokee Indian origin. An
indeterminate, vigorous plant that will produce large, reddish-green
tomatoes with a dark red interior. Has a rich tomato flavor with just the
right degree of sweetness. Fruit is medium sized with a weight of 10-12 oz.
They are best to be eaten right after harvesting as they have thin skin
and soft flesh.
In warm winter/hot summer states such as areas of the south, southwest and
parts of California, Cherokee Purple tomatoes can be planted in early fall for winter harvest.
For the northern areas that have cold winters, can be started indoors 6-8
weeks before the average last spring frost. To develop a strong root
system, when planting the seedlings bury the roots up to the first set of
leaves. Curve the stem above the ground to a vertical position. 80 days
to maturity. Grown Organically. 25 seeds per pkg.
