Endive Seeds
How to Grow Endive
Endive and Escarole are different forms of the same plant. Endive has curly or crinkly-edged leaves and has a sharp, somewhat bitter taste, while escarole is hardier with flat, some what thicker leaves and a less bitter flavor. For spring planting, sow endive and escarole as soon as the soil can be worked. Make successive plantings, every 3-4 weeks until the weather warms. Water plants evenly and regularly to keep leaves green and growing. Plants grown in soil with lots or organic matter, such as compost, usually need no additional fertilizing. In poorer soils, apply a fish emulsion or seaweed once a month.
